Apex Committee

The Apex committee is the governing body of the Indian Steel Association. The management of ISA, its property and funds is vested with the Apex Committee which comprises of one nominee representative of each of the full members. The committee is responsible for appointing the Working Committee and the Secretary General of the Association. The Apex committee finalizes the annual budget of ISA which is proposed by the Secretary General, in due consultation of the Working Committee. It also has the power to make, amend and repeal such rules as it may deem necessary to carry out the objectives of ISA and for the proper conduct and management of the association. Mr T.V Narendran, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Steel, is currently the President of ISA and Chair of the Apex Committee.

Tata Steel Ltd

Mr. T.V. Narendran
CEO & Managing Director

Mr. T.V. Narendran is a Mechanical Engineer from REC (NIT), Trichy (1986). He joined Tata Steel after completing his MBA from IIM Calcutta in 1988. He is a Chevening Scholar and has also attended the Advanced Management Programme in CEDEP – INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He became the Managing Director of Tata Steel India and South East Asia w.e.f. November 1, 2013.

Mr. Narendran’s career in Tata Steel spanned many areas in India & Overseas including Marketing & Sales, International Trade, Supply Chain & Planning, Operation & General Management and includes stints in Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Dubai & Singapore.

He was actively involved in Tata Steel’s first overseas acquisition, NatSteel, and was seconded there as an Executive Vice President in 2005. He took over as the President & CEO of NatSteel from January 2008.

Before being appointed as MD – Tata Steel from 1st November, 2013, Mr. Narendran was the Vice President – Safety, Flat Products & Long Products Divisions of Tata Steel since 2010.

He is currently on the Boards of Tata Steel Limited and Tata Steel Europe. He is also the Chairman of Tata Steel Thailand & NatSteel. He is the Chairman of the Board of Governors of XLRI and a Member of the Board of CEDEP in France. Mr. Narendran is also the President of Institute for Steel Development & Growth (INSDAG) and Member of Board of Trustee of Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST).

He is a Member of the Board of the World Steel Association and the Chairman of the Economics Committee of the World Steel Association. He is the co-chair of the Mining & Metals Governors Council of the World Economic Forum.

He is an active Member of the National Council of CII and is the Chairman, Eastern Region for the CII. He is also a Member from Indian side in BRICS Business Council, Co-Chair of the India Myanmar Joint Trade & Investment Forum & a Member of the Indo-French CEO council.

Mr. Sajjan Jindal

Mr. Dilip Oommen
Managing Director & Dy. CEO

Shri Dilip Oommen is the Managing Director of Essar Steel Limited since 2011 and served as its Chief Executive Officer. He is also a Director on the Board of Essar Steel India Ltd. and other group companies. He joined the company in 2003 as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Prior to joining Essar, he had a very successful tenure in SABIC (Please provide full form) in both Long and Flat Product Plants. He has more than 35 years of experience in Steel Industry.

Shri Dilip Oommen is a Metallurgical Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Shri Oommen holds various certifications in Management. He has attended numerous management and technical courses in India and abroad.

He has received accolades from Gujarat Chamber of Commerce, Hadeed, Indian Institute of Metals for his outstanding contribution to the industry.

Through the years, Shri Oommen has not only believed in, but completely devoted himself to championing the cause of Steel being a Consumer’s delight. With passion backed by talent, under his leadership, he has led several landmark projects to successful completion.

Jindal Steel & Power Limited

Mr. V.R. Sharma
Managing Director

Mr. Vidya Rattan Sharma is Managing Director-Designate for Jindal Steel & Power Ltd.

Prior to joining JSPL, he was Group CEO of AbulKhair Group and managing itsSteel, Power, Cement&Mining business and previously he was Dy. Managing Director of Jindal Steel & Power Limited.

He has also worked as Executive Director of Ispat Industries Ltd, Joint MD & Whole time Director of Bhushan Group. He also worked in management position with other steel companies overseas including Socialist Steel Limited, Lloyd Steel Group and Arrasate Steel Spain.

Extremely passionate for Steel, Mr. Sharma given 36 years to the industry while leading multi-locational Steel/Power/Cement/Mining operation, innovative cost effective large steel projects management and was instrumental in bringing in transformation changes of various steel corporate.

Mr. Sharma is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering and has completed his Master’s in Business Administration from UK.

Mr. Sanjay Singal serves as the Managing Director of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited. Mr. Singal serves as Chairman of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited. Mr. Singal served as Vice Chairman of Bhushan Steel & Strips Ltd. until October 18, 2006. He serves as Director of Bhushan Power and Steel Limited. Mr. Singal served as Director of Bhushan Steel & Strips Ltd. until October 18, 2006.

Tata Steel BSL Ltd

Mr. Rajeev Singhal
Managing Director

Mr. Rajeev Singhal is a Mechanical engineer from IT, Banaras Hindu University and has completed PGDBM in Marketing from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He joined Tata Steel as a Graduate Trainee in 1985. He has completed CEDEP’s General Management Program at, INSEAD, France.

After his initial stint in information technology, he handled Marketing & Sales Function in the Tubes Division. He also worked in the International Business Exports and subsequently Chief Sales Manager (North), and Chief M&S – Long Products. He has nearly 20 years’ experience in Marketing & Sales.

In 2010, he was transferred as Executive-in-Charge Ferro Alloys & Minerals. In 2013, he was promoted as Vice President Raw Material. In May 2018, he has been appointed as a Managing Director of Bhushan Steel Limited.

His professional journey that spans a little over than three decades has seen several milestones in various departments such as Information Technology, Marketing, Sales, Human Resources and Raw Materials.

SAIL

Mr. Anil Kumar Chaudhary
Chairman

Shri Anil Kumar Chaudhary has assumed the position of Chairman, SAIL w.e.f. 22nd September, 2018. He has a rich experience of more than 34 years in the Iron & Steel Sector while working with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a ‘Maharatna’ PSU including the experience as Director (Finance) of the Company, a position he held for more than 7 years prior to the current assignment. He has acquired all round knowledge of the entire steel industry while working in different capacities in the Company.

Widely acknowledged and respected as a natural leader, Mr. Chaudhary is now set to successfully lead a team of almost 75000 employees of SAIL. He has always been one of the most highly regarded directors in SAIL, with his success story cutting across various functions and disciplines. In his capacity as a member of the Board Sub-committees on Operational Issues, Projects, CSR, Shareholders Grievances, etc. and a permanent invitee to the Audit Committee and Nomination & Remuneration Committee during his tenure as Director (Finance), he had major contributions to his credit in keeping the SAIL Flag high. He had also been the Director-in-charge of Enterprise Risk Management in SAIL and a member of the SAIL Risk Management Committee. He has additionally also held the position of Director (Personnel), SAIL and Chairman, mjunction services limited in the past.

Mr. Chaudhary was a part of the “Revenue Maximization Team” as well as the “Empowered Joint Committee” of SAIL. He was also a member of the National Joint Committee for Steel Industry (NJCS), a bipartite forum for settlement of HR and other issues of non-executives of SAIL. He had chaired two important functional committees, one on Strategic Disinvestment of Special Steel Plants of SAIL and another one on Turnaround of SAIL.

Mr. Chaudhary is an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). He is also an alumnus of Faculty of Law and Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) under Delhi University, from where he completed LLB and PG Diploma in Personnel Management respectively. The Advanced Financial Management Programme from Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA), London and Specialised Management Programme from Management Development Institute, European School of Management are a few of the international programmes attended by him. He has also been a guest speaker at various reputed Institutions/Conferences/Seminars.

He has been a recipient of numerous awards from various Institutes and Bodies. Some of the most recent include Corporate Excellence Award in the area of Finance and Financial Management twice from the Institute of Public Enterprise, Hyderabad in 2012 and 2013, CMA-CFO of the Year Award, 2014 from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, First Award at 12th National Award for Excellence in Cost Management-2014 and CFO Roll of Honor by CFO Institute in 2015 and 2016. During his tenure as Director (Finance), the Company has been conferred upon with the First Award for Excellence in Cost Management for the years 2014 and 2017.

RINL

Mr. Pradosh Kumar Rath
Chairman-cum-Managing Director

Mr Rath started his career in RINL-VSP as a Management Trainee in 1983 and has worked in various capacities. He has rich experience in Steel making and Continuous Casting processes. He contributed significantly to the stabilizing and ramping up of production from the new expansion units. Mr Rath graduated from REC, Warangal in Metallurgy and holds MBA (HR & Marketing) from Andhra University. Mr Rath travelled extensively to Russia, China, Austria, Germany, etc.
