Steel has many advantages as a construction material. Not only is it strong, durable, and flexible, but also aesthetically pleasing, recyclable and resource efficient. For all these reasons it is the ideal material for the planet of the future.
ISA works hard to raise awareness about the many advantages of good quality steel as a building material. It organises campaigns aimed at architects, builders, engineers, and designers that highlight the safety and environmental aspects of steel and make the case for increasing the steel-to-cement ratio in construction activities.
As well as talking to professionals, ISA educates the public about steel's benefits; for example, the fact that use of steel can greatly reduce construction costs because of the excellent strength-to-weight ratio of the material. Another key message is that proper use of steel can minimise damage to life and property in the event of disasters such as foods and earthquakes.
