Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), a Navratna PSE with 100% ownership by Gol, is the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) – popularly known as “Vizag Steel”.
Vizag Steel, is the country’s first shore based integrated steel plant at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with a capacity of 6.3 Mtpa of liquid steel. With modernisation and up-gradation of existing units, RINL will add additional 1 mt, taking the capacity to 7.3 mtpa. One of the leading companies in “Long” steel products, Vizag Steel caters to the requirements of the Construction, Infrastructure, and Manufacturing & Automobile sectors.
- It is the first Integrated Steel Plant to be certified for Quality, Health & Safety and Environment i.e ISO 9001:2008, OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001 standards.

RINL has established itself as a market leader in bars and rods segment of long steel products and caters to diverse applications in manufacturing and construction sectors through its widely distributed marketing network of 23 branch offices and more than 800 retailers and rural dealers.

Business Diversification Initiatives:
As a part of its business diversification strategy, RINL is setting up the largest Forged Wheel Plant at Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh; setting up of manufacturing of Transmission Line Towers and Tower parts at Visakhapatnam.
Sustainable Development has always been an integral part of the Company’s strategy since inception. It has pioneered the adoption of green technologies and an investment of Rs 1283 crores has been made on pollution control systems in its recent expansion. 41% of the total land is under afforestation.
RINL also discharges its responsibility towards improving the quality of life of the community and supports developmental and welfare activities in its rehabilitation colonies and surrounding areas.
Buoyed by its performance on all fronts, RINL has charted out its growth plans to increase its capacity to 20Mt in phases by 2032-33.
