The Regulatory Sub-Committee is assigned the task of handling matters pertaining to trade,trade remedial measures, NTBs/ TBTs, FTAs, EC/ FC, Taxes/ Duties, and Import as laid down by the Memorandum of Association of Indian Steel.
Meetings of the Sub-Committee are convened by Ms. Ashima Tyagi, Assistant Director, Indian Steel. Several meetings are organised in a year in order to take a leadership position within the Association on the menacing issues affecting the steel trade markets and the action plan.
In 2017-18, the Sub-Committee came together three times to discuss critical issues such as review of global trade actions, technical barriers to trade, expansion of the purview of MEIS under foreign trade policy, increase of duty drawback, advocacy in RCEP, CEPA and FTA review meetings at Ministries, pursuing enforcement of Quality Control Order(s), understanding trends in foreign value-added content and domestic valueadded content in steel exports by India, and understanding impact of the Policy for Providing Preference to Domestically Manufactured Iron and Steel Products.
Mr. Abishek Sinha from Steel Authority of India Ltd, is also the Chairperson of the Regulatory (Trade Related) Sub-Commitee.
